Two of my friends who recently gave birth were told by the (very snotty) hospital ultrasound technicians that they will not give out the sex of the baby. They had to go to a private ultrasound clinic in Vancouver and pay $100 (although that included 3D imaging, actually, but still...). I think it's crazy. I know there are cultures that prefer boys to girls, but the majority just want to know what frickin' colour to paint the nursery!<br /><br />However, another friend was told she was having a boy and she ended up having a girl! So it's not an exact science, I guess. But if you're willing to take the risk and the technician can see the sex, I don't see why they should be charging you for that.
